Luis Suárez

Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz (American Spanish: [ˈlwis ˈswaɾes]; born 24 January 1987) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Uruguayan national team as a striker.
In July 2014, Suárez moved to Barcelona for a fee reported by the English press in the region of £75 million (€94 million), while Barcelona claim a fee of £65 million (€81 million), making him the third most expensive player in football history.[2][3] He is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.[4][5][6]
Suárez began his career as a youth player for Nacional in 2003. He signed for Groningen in the Eredivisie in 2006 and transferred toAjax in 2007. In 2008–09 he was named Ajax Player of the Year. The following year, he was made the club captain, helping Ajax win the KNVB Cup while

becoming the league's top scorer with 35 goals in 33 games. He was also named Dutch Footballer of the Yearand scored 49 goals in all competitions. In January 2011, Suárez transferred to Liverpool for €26.5 million (£22.8 million). In February 2012, Suárez won the Football League Cup with the club. In April 2014, he won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award, becoming the first non-European to win the award,[7] and the FWA Footballer of the Year. As the Premier League's top scorer with 31 goals he won the Premier League Golden Boot, and shared the European Golden Shoe with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Suárez represented Uruguay in the 2007 U-20 World Cup. In the 2010 World Cup, he played an important role in Uruguay's fourth place finish and scored three goals, and blocked an extra time goalbound header with his hands during the quarter finals againstGhana. At the 2011 Copa América, Suárez scored four goals for Uruguay as they won a record fifteenth Copa América and was named Player of the Tournament.[8] On 23 June 2013, he became Uruguay's all-time record goalscorer with 35 goals. At the 2014 World Cup, he scored his 40th goal.
Suárez has been the source of much controversy throughout his career.[9][10][11] As well as his 2010 World Cup goal-line handball, he has also bitten three opponents, the latest being Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup,[12][13][14][15] has been widely accused of and admitted to diving,[16][17] and was found guilty by the FA of racially abusing Patrice Evra,[18] a decision Suárez disputes.[19]

Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Júnior (Brazilian Portuguese: [osˈkaʁ duˈsɐ̃tus imboˈabɐ ˈʒũnioɾ]; born 9 September 1991), also known asOscar, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for English club Chelsea and the Brazil national team.
Oscar began his career at São Paulo, where he won the Brazilian League in 2008. In 2009, he went to court against the club due to irregularities in his contract. After a series of controversies, he left for Internacional, where he spent the next three years of his career. His displays for club and country led to him signing for Chelsea for £19.35 million.

On 20 August 2011, Oscar scored three goals in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup final win against Portugal,[3] becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the FIFA U-20 World Cup final.[4] Oscar later described his performances at the tournament as being a "gateway to the senior side."[5] His playing style and ability have drawn comparison to Brazilian attacking midfielder Kaká.[6][7][8]
In the first match of the 2013–14 season on 18 August, Oscar scored Chelsea's opening goal in a 2–0 win over Hull City.[22] Oscar scored his second goal of the season in a Champions League match against FC Basel.[23] He opened the scoring against local rivals Fulham in the next round of Premier League fixtures, the final score being 2–0 with Mikel scoring the other goal, his first Premier League goal for Chelsea.[24] Oscar scored the opening goal in a match away to Norwich City, the final score 3–1 in favour of Chelsea.[25] In the match against Cardiff City, Oscar scored the third goal for Chelsea to help them on their way to a 4–1 home win.[26]
He continued his fine form and scored against West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground on 1 October 2013 in Chelsea's 0–3 win. On 1 January 2014 Oscar put in a match-winning performance against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium, scoring one and assisting two as Chelsea won the match 0–3. However, he was booked in that match for diving.[27] On 26 January 2014 Oscar scored Chelsea's only goal by a free kick against Stoke City in the FA Cup as Chelsea progressed to the next round.[28] Oscar scored fourth and fifth goals in Chelsea's emphatic 6–0 victory over Arsenal on 23 March, which was Arsène Wenger's 1000th match in charge of the club.[29]

Toni Kroos (German pronunciation: [ˈtoːni ˈkʁoːs]; born 4 January 1990) is a German footballer who plays for Spanish clubReal Madrid and the German national team as a midfielder.
A member of Bayern Munich's first team at the age of 17, Kroos became a regular after an 18-month loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, and won honours including three Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League. After winning the World Cup in 2014, he joined Real Madrid on a six-year contract. He has been praised by journalists[3] and former professionals[4] as a player with all the qualities for the role of an attacking midfielder.

Kroos made his full international debut in 2010 and was a member of the German squads which reached the semi-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2012. He was also part of the team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first footballer born in East Germany to win the competition.
In the summer of 2010, on the expiration of his loan at Bayer Leverkusen, Kroos returned to Bayern Munich. When asked about his first team chances with Bayern, runner-up in the previous season's Champions League, Kroos stated: "I want to play as often as possible!"[12]
On 16 August 2010, he started against TSV Germania Windeck in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, scoring the third goal in a 4–0 victory. On 29 October 2010, he scored his first league goal for the club, in a 4–1 win for the Bavarians against SC Freiburg. During the 2010–11 season, Kroos was a regular starter for Bayern in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League. He ended the season with 37 appearances in all competitions.
During 2011–12, under Jupp Heynckes, his former coach at Leverkusen, Kroos established himself as a first choice player from Bayern, forming a strong midfield partnership withnational team colleague Bastian Schweinsteiger. He played 51 matches in all competitions during the season, including the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final, where Bayern were beaten on penalties by Chelsea at the Allianz Arena.
Kroos was an important member of Bayern's treble winning team during the 2012–13 season. As the most advanced member of a midfield containing Schweinsteiger and Javi Martínez, Kroos scored three goals in the team's opening four Bundesliga matches. He also scored his first Champions League goal in Bayern's opening group match againstValencia CF. After sustaining an injury in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Juventus,[13] Kroos was unavailable for the remainder of the season, missing Bayern's successes in the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final, the 2013 DFB-Pokal Final and the last seven matches of the Bundesliga season.
Kroos returned to fitness for the start of the 2013–14 season and, on 4 October 2013, scored his first goal of the season in a 1–1 draw against former club Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. On 21 December 2013, he started for Bayern in the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup Final as the team beat Raja Casablanca 2–0.[14]
On 19 February 2014, Kroos scored his second goal of the season in a 2–0 Champions League win against Arsenal.[15] On 25 March, he scored in a 3–1 win over Hertha BSC as Bayern were confirmed as Bundesliga champions.[16]

Miroslav Josef Klose (German pronunciation: [ˈmɪʁoslaf ˈkloːzə] ( ); born on 9 June 1978)[4] is a German professionalfootballer who plays as a striker for Lazio in the Italian Serie A.
Klose is best known for his performances with the German national team, for which he is the all-time top scorer with 71 goals. He has excelled at the FIFA World Cup, where he is the overall top scorer in its history with 16 goals. He was part of the 2014 World Cup winning German squad, having previously finished second (2002) and third (20062010) in the competition. Klose scored five goals in his debut World Cup in 2002 and won the Golden Boot at the 2006 World Cup in Germany by again scoring five times,[5] Klose also scored four times in the 2010 World Cup and scored twice at the 2014 World Cup, including one in the 7–1 semi-final victory against Brazil, which put him ahead of Ronaldo with 16 goals.[6] By scoring in the 2014 tournament, Klose equalled his compatriot Uwe Seeler and Brazilian Pelé's achievements in being the only players to have scored in four different World Cups,[7] as well as the only player to have scored at least four in three different tournaments.[8] The German national team never lost a game in which Klose had scored.[9] Klose retired from international football on 11 August 2014.
At club level, Klose has been a less prolific but usually reliable goalscorer. Starting his career at FC 08 Homburg, he has played in the Bundesliga for KaiserslauternWerder Bremen and Bayern Munich, and in Serie A for Lazio. He won two league titles with Bayern, and has won cup competitions at Bayern, Werder Bremen and Lazio.

Mats Julian Hummels (German pronunciation: [ˈmats ˈhʊməls]; born 16 December 1988) is a German footballer who plays as a central defender for Borussia Dortmund, for which he is the current captain, and the German national team.
He came through the Bayern Munich youth academy before joining his current club on loan in January 2008, and he officially signed for Dortmund in February 2009 for €4 million. His honours at the club include two league titles and finishing as runner up in the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League.
Hummels has been a full international since 2010, earning over 30 caps and representing Germany at the UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Hummels is a product of Bayern Munich's youth academy, first entering the club as a six-year-old. He signed his first professional contract on 19 December 2006, until 2010. On 19 May 2007, in the season's final match, he played his firstBundesliga match with the first team in a 5–2 home routing of 1. FSV Mainz 05.
In January 2008, Hummels joined Borussia Dortmund, initially on loan. During his first full season, he quickly established himself as first-choice, as he often partnered newly signed Neven Subotić, but also missed a great part of its final months due to injury. In February 2009, he was fully signed to the club[3] for a fee of €4 million.[4]
The 2010–11 season brought increased success for Hummels. He was the regular first-choice center-back, again paired with Subotić. The duo helped Dortmund to the best defensive record in the Bundesliga, as the team won the league title. Hummels' performances that season displayed great quality in tackling, positioning, and composure. He has attracted praise from pundits and coaches alike, and he is considered one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga, and in Europe.
Hummels won the Bundesliga for a second time in 2011–12 as Borussia set a Bundesliga record with the most points in a Bundesliga season with 81 points. Hummels scored a goal in Borussia's 5–2 win against Bayern in the 2012 DFB-Pokal Final as the team completed the league and cup double. On 3 June 2012, Hummels signed a new contract that will keep him at Dortmund until the summer of 2017.[5]
On 25 May 2013, Hummels was in the Borussia Dortmund line-up that was defeated 2–1 by Bayern Munich at Wembley StadiumLondon, in the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final.[6]
On 27 July 2013, Hummels was in the Borussia Dortmund line-up that won 4–2 against Bayern Munich at BVB's Signal Iduna Park,Dortmund, in the 2013 DFL-Supercup.[7]

In addition to his favoured role as a number 10, Götze is capable of playing as either a left or right winger and also as a false 9.[4] Götze is considered to be one of the sport's best young players, possessing speed, technique, dribbling skills, and play-making capabilities. In 2010, German Football Association's then technical director Matthias Sammer described Götze as "one of the best talents Germany has ever had."[5]
Götze was first selected for the Germany national football team in 2010, at the age of 18. He was included in the squad for UEFA Euro 2012 and, two years later, scored the winning goal in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final.[6]
Götze played for Borussia Dortmund between 2009 and 2013, winning the Bundesliga title in 2010–11 and the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2011–12, and was a member of the team which reached the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final. In April 2013, a €37 million bid from Bayern Munich triggered a release clause in Götze's contract, making Götze the second-most expensive German player to date, behind Mesut Özil.[7]

Robben has appeared at the 20042008 and 2012UEFA European Championships, and the 20062010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. He is a forward who usually plays as a left or right sided winger. Robben is known for his dribbling skills, speed, crossing ability and his accurate left foot long-range shots from the right wing.

Robben first came to prominence with Groningen, for whom he was player of the year for the 2000–01 Eredivisie season. Two years later he signed for PSV, where he became the Netherlands' Young Player of the Year and won an Eredivisie title.[3] The following season Robben's signature was pursued by leading English clubs, and after protracted transfer negotiations he joinedChelsea in 2004.
Robben's Chelsea debut was delayed through injury, but upon returning to fitness he helped Chelsea bring home two consecutivePremier League titles, and was the FA Premier League Player of the Month in November 2005.[4][5] After a third season in England which was punctuated by injury, Robben moved to Spanish club Real Madrid for 35 million. In 1996, he joined the biggest club in the city, Olympique Lyonnais and, subsequently, came through the club's youth academy. Benzema made his professional debut in the 2004–05 season and appeared sporadically in his first three seasons as Lyon won three titles in that span. In the 2007–08 season, Benzema became a starter and had a breakthrough year scoring over 30 goals as Lyon won its seventh straight league title. For his performances, he was named the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) Ligue 1 Player of the Year and named to the organization's Team of the Year. Benzema was also the league's top scorer and given the Bravo Award by Italianmagazine Guerin Sportivo. After another season at Lyon, in July 2009, Benzema moved to Spanish team Real Madrid in a transfer fee worth over €35 million ($50 million), and signed a six year contract.[5] After struggling to establish himself in his debut season with the club, in the ensuing two seasons, Benzema reached prominence scoring 32 goals en route to helping Real Madrid win the Copa del Rey in 2011 and the 2011–12 edition of La Liga. Benzema is a former French youth international and has represented his nation from under-17 level onwards. Prior to playing for thesenior team, he played on the under-17 team that won the 2004 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship. Benzema made his senior international debut in March 2007 in a friendly match against Austria, scoring in a 1–0 win.
